Professor Carmichael from the University of Iowa visited CAEP
 

On April 1, 2024, Professor Gregory Carmichael from the University of Iowa, Chairman of the Scientific Steering Committee for Environmental Pollution and Atmospheric Chemistry of the Global Atmospheric Watch Programme (WMO-GAW) of the World Meteorological Organization, was invited to visit and exchange at CAEP. President Lu Jun, and Academician Wang Jinnan participated in the discussion and exchange. President Lu Jun, on behalf of CAEP, warmly welcomed Professor Carmichael and his delegation, and introduced the basic situation of our Academy. Academician Wang Jinnan introduced the progress of our work in atmospheric environment governance, pollution reduction, and carbon emission reduction.Professor Carmichael expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by CAEP and looked forward to future collaborative research.
Subsequently, Professor Carmichael gave an academic report titled "Advancing Atmospheric Composition Analysis and Predictions and Related Services to Meet the Growing Societal Needs" in the 12th-floor lecture hall of our Academy, which was chaired by Academician Wang Jinnan. Professor Carmichael introduced the progress of his research team's work on the observation and simulation of atmospheric components such as air pollutants and greenhouse gases, shared the results of health impact analyses on different age groups exposed to air pollution under different scenarios, presented the latest progress of the Global Greenhouse Gas Watch (G3W) research plan, which he co-chairs under the World Meteorological Organization, and looked forward to the future direction of the field.
