WGDO Honorary Chairman Jo LEINEN Visits CAEP
On July 14, 2025, Jo LEINEN, Honorary Chairman of the World Green Design Organization (WGDO), and Director-General Xing Lei visited CAEP. Academician Wang Jinnan (Honorary President of CAEP) , President Xu Qigong, Chief Scientist Ge Chazhong, and colleagues from R&D and International Cooperation Office, Institute of Atmospheric Environment, Center for Carbon Neutrality, and Center for Soil Protection and Landscape Design attended the meeting. The two sides held an in-depth symposium and exchange on the global green development think tank and China-Europe ecological and environmental cooperation. The symposium was chaired by President Xu Qigong of our institute.

President Xu Qigong extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the World Green Design Organization on behalf of CAEP. He provided a detailed introduction to the main business areas of CAEP and highlighted the significant role it plays as a global environmental think tank in the field of ecological environment. He emphasized that through enhanced communication and cooperation, we can effectively inject new momentum into green and low - carbon development and work together to address complex environmental challenges.

Director-General Xing Lei expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception extended to him by our institute. He also provided a detailed introduction of the World Green Design Organization and its significant achievements. He conveyed a strong desire to deepen the exchange and communication between the two sides, hoping to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism with CAEP. Together, they aim to contribute their collective wisdom to addressing global climate change and achieving sustainable development goals.

Honorary Chairman Jo LEINEN said he was delighted to have the opportunity to exchange views with CAEP. Over the past several years, China has invested enormous effort in ecological civilization and green, low-carbon development, achieving remarkable results. These accomplishments not only underscore the international responsibilities shouldered by China as a responsible nation, but also highlight its positive contributions to advancing global sustainable development. He shared the EU’s specific practices and experiences in related fields and placed special emphasis on the importance of cross-regional cooperation.
