The exhibition "Song of the Earth - Artistic Documentary for a Better China" jointly hosted by the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning and the China Academy of Art, opened at the China Millennium Monument.

At the opening ceremony, Secretary Lu Jun pointed out that building a beautiful China is the common cause of all the people, and everyone is an actor, participant and beneficiary of  Beautiful China Construction. We need to carry forward the concept of ecological culture, advocate the green values of respecting and caring for nature, and widely mobilize the whole people to participate in the Beautiful China Construction through publicity and education, typical demonstrations, artistic creation, exhibitions and displays. Excellent humanistic works of art not only have aesthetic education functions and creative energy, but also carry the mission of "cultivating people". He hoped that everyone would join hands to build a beautiful China where human and nature live in harmony and promote the construction of a clean and beautiful world.
The exhibition is the second large-scale exhibit of its type following last year's Close-up: 100 Moments for a Better China. It is also the largest "Beautiful China Case Document Exhibition" in China.Researchers interviewed more than 300 artists, scholars, designers, entrepreneurs and practitioners from China's 34 provinces and autonomous regions, gathering textual and video documentation for the database.Based on the research, nearly 100 projects were selected from more than 300 to be showcased in the exhibition's four categories of Village, Ecology, Community and Digital. The exhibition presents the artistic, innovative and sustainable practices taking place around China since reform and opening-up began, particularly in the past decade.

An online archive was also established alongside the exhibition, where viewers can search through and learn more about these projects based on regions, categories or features. The exhibition will run through March 27, and a series of forums will be hosted throughout, inviting experts to discuss topics including environment and ecology, folk art rejuvenation and public art education.
