Video Conference on Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Planning
Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau convened a video conference on the development of environmental plan for the 12th Five-Year Plan period on November 9, 2009. There were more than 450 people from related departments of the provincial government, the Environmental Planning Leading Group Office, and municipal and county EPB and related departments attending this video meeting.
The main purpose of this meeting was to convey the message of the work conference on the National Environmental Planning for the 12th Five-Year Plan period, and the message of the work meeting on Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Planning for the 12th Five-Year Plan period. Mr. Zhao Ting, deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau outlined the arrangement on the work regarding the development of the plan.
Mr. Wu, Shunze, vice president of the CAEP was invited to this video conference. He gave a report on the progress of the pre-study on the development of the national environmental planning for the 12th Five-Year Plan period; three focuses - total emission reduction, environmental quality improvement, and risk prevention – in planning; key policy points to be materialized during the 12th Five-Year Plan period; and the issues to be further studied on.
According to the work arrangements, the following pre- studies will be carried out in Jiangsu Province: environmental state analysis; ecological civilization construction, macro adjustment and control, green and low carbon economy, environmental objectives, industrial pollution control, rural environment, and environmental risk, etc. and the Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Plana and following ten individual plans for the 12th Five-Year Plan period will be developed: total amount control of pollutants, rural environmental protection, coastal environmental protection, water pollution control, atmospheric pollution prevention and control, solid waste pollution prevention and control, nuclear and radiation safety management and supervision, environmental science and technology development, environmental monitoring and early warning system, and environmental capacity-building.
